PlayPlay (NC, Party Illegal) creatively interweaves nostalgic hip-hop and house classics into both their DJ sets and music production, which are largely composed of sounds reminiscent of what they grew up listening to: jungle/early hardcore/breakbeat, anything Goldie, acid house, ghetto tech, jock jams, EBM, industrial and 90s everything. PlayPlay particularly embraces the intersection between jungle and Chicago footwork, & is forever obsessed with Baltimore club. Their ultimate goal is to be in constant musical conversation, kicking up nostalgia & connecting through sounds and sweat.

Currently, Jess teaches the Art and Culture of the DJ through the Department of Music at UNC-Chapel Hill and is working on their debut EP, set to be released in the fall.
