Gi Major

Gi Major is a cross-genre, alternative hip-hop artist hailing from the North Shore of Massachusetts. Growing up, Gi’s parents introduced her to a diverse collection of artists; most notably the soulful sounds of Anita Baker, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Toni Braxton and Luther Vandross. However, as she grew older it became apparent that Gi was drawn to any and every genre of music as long as it contained one vital element; authenticity. At the age of nine, Gi received what she considers to be one of the most influential catalysts to her own artistry, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.” As her musical taste has become more eclectic over the years, Gi has developed a distinct style that incorporates her past, present, and future. With a music collection of her own that consists of genres such as Soul, Deep Bass, Hip-Hop, R&B, Grime, Trip-Hop, Ambient and beyond, it can be hard to pinpoint exactly where Gi’s inspiration stems from. Currently stationed in Brooklyn, Gi is the Co-Founder and MC for the NYC-based music collective, EARTHTONE. Through the combination of obscure electronic beats and her eternal love for Soul, Deep Bass, Hip-Hop, and R&B, Gi seeks to push the boundaries confined by genre labels. As a lyricist defined by her lack of constraints, there's no knowing what type of collaboration she will be making next. Forever evolving, forever learning, forever loving...this is Gi Major, for now.
