Born in California and raised in New York, Steve Boyle, “Boy iLL,” is a 26 year old DJ/Producer whose inspiration spans from coast to coast. Growing up, Boy iLL was heavily influenced by Hip-Hop and Rock, but as he went through his teenage years he quickly found himself falling in love with the versatility of electronic music. Shortly after, he began DJ’ing and spinning vinyl records, which is exhibited through his extensive multi-format collection.
Primarily focusing on House & Dubstep, Boy iLL has a well-curated selection that can tend to a wide-audience despite genre preference. Over the past few years he has established himself in the NYC music scene, playing at some of the city’s most reputable bass music venues; Webster Hall, Outputs own Halcyon Record Shop, TBA Brooklyn, Dubday @ Bar13. Staying true to his roots, he also has enough classic era hip-hop to last an entire summers worth of block parties in NYC.
As of recent, Boy iLL has found himself on stage with some of his biggest inspirations in the electronic scene; Joe Nice, Anna Lunoe, El-B, J-Rabbit, and was also recently showcased at the inaugural Down To Earth Music Festival in upstate New York. With backing from NYC bass crews such as EARTHTONE & TRANSIT.FM, it’s not long before his dedication is witnessed across the country and on international circuits. With close to a decade in the music game, it’s safe to say that Boy iLL has left an everlasting imprint in the community, and even then…he’s only just begun.
